Velvetine Labradors

The Origins of Velvetine Labradors

Velvetine Labradors is a small kennel that started in Irvine, Ayrshire which is in the South West of Scotland. Velvetine is now based in Blackburn, West Lothian.

The name Velvetine came to life in memory of my first dog Velvet, who was a Lab x Collie.  In my wisdom I used her name, as you all know they dont live forever and this way she did live on through all the dogs that came after her.

I started in Labradors way back in 1989 with my first labrador Jemma who was yellow ( Fawn Chiffon at Velvetine). I was granted my Affix in May 1992 and as they say the rest is history.  From her the Velvetine Kennel was born.

Over the next few years I tried my hand at showing and obedience and to my surprise Jemma did rather well. The biggest problem with showing is that once you have been bitten by the bug you are hooked.  I still continue to do obedience with my girls and they all have their Silver Award from the Kennel Clubs Good Citizen Scheme.

I am a small kennel that breeds for Type, Temprement and Health.  All my girls are health tested.
